Brief History….
Pittman Grove Baptist Church has indeed a rich heritage. The greatest part of this heritage dates almost 2000 years ago when God sent his Son to die on the cross that we may have eternal life.
The founders of Pittman Grove were dedicated to keep pushing, never ending work to give us this most wonderful place to worship in freedom. We cannot go back in time to thank them all but we are continually faithful in the ministry that was started.
In 1936 several members from Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish had a vision of the need for a church in the community. Mrs. Sally McKeithan, her husband, Neil left Tabernacle to start this new church. Soon groups in the community began to join them. The groups met in homes in the community, planning and praying for God’s work. Moses Pittman donated 1/2 acre, originally for a cemetery but later became where the Church would be. The timber for the framing was given by Eloise McKeithan Shockley, Annie Pittman and John Cheek. In 1937 the church was finished and dedicated by the first pastor Rev. George McKeithan. The Church joined the New South River Baptist Association in 1937.
Indeed, Pittman Grove Baptist Church, has a rich heritage and would like to invite you to join us as walk in the footsteps of our forefathers, going about God’s work, laying the foundation for our future Church.
DO YOU KNOW JESUS
Our goal at Pittman Grove Baptist Church is to share Christ with those we have the opportunity to meet. Salvation is available for everyone and God’s Plan is as simple as knowing your “A.B.C.s”
A. Admit——that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23; 6:23)
B. Believe that Jesus is God’s Son, and that He died for your sins and rose again (Romans 5:8; 10:9)
C. Confess your sins and ask Jesus to forgive you and come into heart. (Romans 10:9-10, 13)
