Dennis began his professional music career in his early twenties, performing with several bands before founding the bluegrass gospel group Carolina Sonshine in 1997. His sound is deeply rooted in traditional country, bluegrass, and gospel, drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as The Carter Family and Lester & Earl.
